Topics regarding store closing at JCPenney

My wife bought me a pair of houseshoes from Pennys. They went to pieces in a matter of weeks. I bought a pair of houseshoes from Wal-Mart, that lasted longer.

Millennials of Kentucky

I'm surprised they have 140 stores left. Odd that they would have any expectations about Millennials spending money in their stores. Millennials really don't have any money.

I still think JCP can be saved, I own the stock so I am biased. Kmart is Dead, Sears could have been saved, but they need a DRASTIC CHANGE... No sears is dead also..

Possibly due to slow-to-no change in their model to align their products/prices/services with evolving consumer wants/needs. If you snooze, you lose.

Bismarck store

I hope the Bismarck store won't be affected by this. I get my jeans and shorts from there because they're high quality made. Is there a list somewhere where I can find out?

Doesn't make any sense at all.

We lost JCPenny in the next town. Have to drive a lot further if I want to shop at a Penny's or go online. Now we are losing K-Mart in our town. It doesn't make sense since the only place to shop is now Walmart. In the meantime the town that is... — read more

they just HAD to pull up stakes

My JCPenney once existed in a mall and I went there a lot. They they left it and opened a store at some newer outdoor strip center. I've been there exactly two times. I still prefer the mall but now this one is a joke. Nothing to do there now but eat... — read more

BUT...

Everyone overlooks the No. 1 retailer: QVC. Last year's junk at next year's prices. Nice shipping and handling charges support low cost junk profits.

Downhill Slide for JCP

JC Penney has been going downhill for years. There's hardly ever a lot of people in their stores and they never have Really good sales. They have 5-7% off sales and at the most 15% off once in a while.

So what about going back to what works? Bring back the Christmas Catalogue and put things in the store your customers & your shoppers are looking for! JCP cannot dictate to it's customers what they them to buy! The reasons I came into the store was...

Trend/Closings

Unfortunately this trend with department store retail has been going on for awhile. The mall era of the late seventies and eighties is slowly coming to an end. It sure won't help Trumps promise for more jobs.

Change is coming

I like buying from Amazon. I never enjoyed shopping. Going to the mall feels like a chore. When I do go to the mall I am in and out. Which is why I like buying online. I click on what I want, and in two days, it's in an Amazon locker. I can even get... — read more

They need to stop stocking only small sizes

Well, the average size an American woman wears is a 16. That's average. Stores like Pennys stock sizes 16 and lower, most clothes in the 4-8 range, and wonder why they have to close stores. I don't even go to brick and mortar stores to buy clothes... — read more

It's over

JCP, you are dying, as are many department stores. Perhaps you should try something radical. Start selling an Ivanka clothing line. Start selling Trump books, socks and tee shirts. Set up a patriot section selling American Flags, as well as jigsaw... — read more

JCP is doing the right thing

Penny's is actually doing the right thing that will help it to survive. When you exceed your optimum scale of enterprise, by opening too many locations, you greatly reduce your profit margin because your overhead becomes too high for you to maintain... — read more

Are Stores in Austin Going to Close?

Everyone is quick to claim this is driven by online shopping but the core of what JCP (and sears) sells are not really online items. Clothing, bath & housewares are likely not big online sales areas. Some of these items that are online are still... — read more

Torrence to Close?

I agree that Amazon has dominated the retail market. But, as it grows, it becomes a bigger den of c-appy merchandise. Where, in the past, I rarely needed to return things, I find that I have a lot of returns now. The products from Amazon's... — read more

Is the plan to close this store just like 140 others. This was announced today. What will happen to all folks who work here? It'll be a huge hit for our community. I hope you keep our store open.

Don't close JCP Frisco!!!

I enjoy shopping online as much as the next person. But, there is going to be a day where we can not actually go to a store and touch and/or feel something. I think we're going to miss this more than we realize.

This OKC J.C. Penney will close

All stores like JCP will close soon. One exception is B & H Photo.. They are an old time brick and mortar store that got onto Al Gore's first invention (the Internet) early on and have a thriving business at the store and online. They are also VERY... — read more

Auburn JCP Plan

When is this JCP store closing in Auburn and if they do, are they going to have a massive sale? I think they are having major issues there, there is not enough merchandise.

Kokomo Open/ but closure coming soon

This one is still open in Kokomo but brick & mortars are dropping like flies. The Amazons and Walmart.com flew in under their radar - never realizing the threat - while they kept their same pricing structure and policies. The internet was just... — read more
